(an excerpt)
Now understanding the connection between creativity and freedom, we ask: how do we create the conditions by which all life can return to its natural state of freedom? “and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”. (John 8:32). Creating is freedom. Truth is freedom. What is holding you captive? Free yourself.
“Mr. Rogers”, an American icon for an entire generation, created an environment of emotional freedom for children. In 1969, Fred Rogers appealed to the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Communications with a riveting testimony. He believed his work, especially his programming, was essential to the healthy development of children, and required funding. Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, his puppet therapy, and other works of creative genius were aimed directly at the development of emotional intelligence. All three of the Elements of Creativity were present in this man’s extraordinary work: wisdom, freedom, and creativity. Mr. Rogers spent his entire lifetime devoted to children and teaching them to be free: free to be whom they are, free to feel and express themselves, and free to create wonderful and miraculous things. That is a neighborhood I want to live in.
But for a moment we must consider the dark side of humanity, and its devastating effect on freedom and creativity. Human trafficking is a most abhorrent practice, where humans are illegitimately owned and controlled by other humans. This is entirely a result of decisions that people have made as a collective. Viral programming, severely wounded sacral chakras, greed, and all the additional 8 Great Fears comprise the forces which have created the condition of slavery upon our planet for millennia. We have enslaved millions of people upon this planet—currently, an estimated 21 million. In doing so, we have destroyed the freedom of everyone. All have taken up the mantle of a culture of exploitation. We now need to recreate our freedom, and remediate the unspeakable trauma which has, instead been created.
This is a particularly heavy chapter when compared to the rest of this book. My intention is to move toward only positive lifestyles for everyone, yet the concept of slavery and the trafficking of people is a shadow side of humanity which has not effectively been recognized, acknowledged, and remediated. The harmful behaviors borne of the emotions of rage, instability, and fear are manifesting as global norms. How could this be? Now I remember a term used in an interesting movie starring Sigourney Weaver, Mel Gibson, and Linda Hunt. The Year of Living Dangerously is a fascinating lesson about the Indonesian political and military crisis which occurred in 1965. Journalist Billy Kwan, played by Hunt, is seen typing feverishly and repeating over and over: “What then, must we do? What then, must we do? What then, must we do?” That question rings in my head, without ceasing, as I continue to try and understand that which is impossible to understand. Global labor trafficking, commercial sex trafficking, and debt bondage are among the forms of slavery which are alive and well in our world today. Without freedom, we are lost. What, then, must we do?
Today’s Prayer of Intention
Lord you have created me in freedom. I am a miracle, which You spoke into being. I am made in Your image, to create as You do. I fashion my world through love and compassion–Your love, and Your compassion. Your creations are fascinating and teach me of You. I desire to command miracles of grace and beauty, and You have empowered me. I will design a New Earth, for the joy of all as You have shown me. I walk in Your ways, and I speak Your ways into being. My gratitude knows no end. I am free.
Amen.

What are the Jungian Archetypes, and how do we connect them to management and executive leadership at our dealership? Why would we want to? Self-awareness is a critical skill in which all successful leaders must become proficient. The work to master oneself creates powerful positive relationships both at the dealership, and at home. Understanding the archetypes leads us into a greater knowledge of our true nature: our unconscious mind, the origins of our personality, and the patterns which drive our behaviours. Carl Jung (1875-1961), a Swiss psychologist, identified 12 archetypes of humans (Jung, 1969). The list is not as definitive as one would expect, as the subject of human personality is quite varied and expansive. However, many interesting myths and legends, based upon the archetypes, have arisen from the depths of the imaginations of great artists. The Hero’s Journey is one such epic story.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a personality assessment based upon the work of Jung. It is an invaluable tool, which we introduce in The Currie Leadership Development Program. Those on the pilgrimage to enhance their leadership skills, begin this one-year program by determining their Myers-Briggs four-letter type. This is the very first step on the path toward increased self-awareness: what are my preferences; what are my strengths and how do they serve me and my peers; what are my blind spots; and what drives my reactions and responses? In short, the assessment gives the student a glimpse into the answer to a timeless question: who am I? Some may determine, based upon the MBTI and Jungian psychology, that they are The Hero.
The Hero is driven. His purpose is to defend, to lead courageously, and to provide for his family and neighbours. The Hero does not play small, and he works tirelessly. The Hero’s true victory lies in the depth of the need that others have for him. Are you now connecting this information to The Hero at your dealership? Is this you? Can you identify managers or principals who personify The hero? If you attended the Currie Conference last year, in Dallas, you would have had an opportunity to attend my lecture on Buddha, Jesus, and Greek gods. The story of Jason and the Argonauts is the epitome of “The Hero’s Journey”. Below is an interesting graphic which depicts the Hero’s Journey.
This graphic was found on Wikimedia.org, at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Heroesjourney.svg
Remember now the epic characters who also embodied The Hero. From Jesus, to Jason, to Superman and Harry Potter, we see the determined drive for righteousness and honour, and the perseverance to win. And, Luke Skywalker shows us the futuristic Hero’s Journey. Of course, there are women on The Hero’s Journey. You didn’t think I would leave them out, did you? Let us consider real-life heroines such as Jean D’Arc. And there is a great deal to learn from some modern-day heroes and heroines as well: Erin Brockovich, Karen Silkwood, and Nelson Mandela. These people stood clear, in their conviction of purpose and were so impassioned they were willing to risk it all. Each of us has, within us, a great hero. But each needs to discover for himself, which of the archetypes is our dominant one, and how that archetype becomes the persona which drives action. Who are you? Are you The Magician? The Lover? Or perhaps you are The Nurturer. What are your natural gifts?
Additionally, did you notice that most of these brave souls who embark on The Hero’s Journey are not necessarily alone? Many are accompanied, and nearly always by a powerful presence. Harry Potter and Dorothy (of The Wizard of Oz) had wizards by their side. Jason had his power team, and Jesus had connection to God. Think Aladdin, and the Genie. The lesson here: perhaps for each, the accompaniments were quite possibly connections to an additional archetype. As in the teachings from the legends of the Greek gods, we draw from their skills whenever we have need of them. The power to reveal solutions is always available. No matter the dominant archetype, all are present within each of us.
If your interest is sparked, join us for the next Currie Leadership Development Program. The new session begins August 6-7, 2018. But, we are looking for a new kind of leader to work with: one who is ready to engage with us in a new direction for the distribution company, and one who is ready to see with monocular vision, as opposed to singularity of sight. As we head midway into 2018, we must continue to develop a laser focus, as well as excellent insight. How do we keep our eyes on both the operational performance, and, at the same time, inspire new and emerging leaders? This combined vision is imperative for bringing our enterprises into the future. The distribution marketplace of today requires us to run faster, lead differently, and see with fresh eyes. There is a new way to lead a successful distribution company: practiced self-awareness is required, as well as the ability to build a bridge between your own preferences and tendencies, and those of all of the people you are leading into the future. We are all part of the adventure, and all must find the ability to tap into both Sensory tendencies, and Intuitive preferences.
The overwhelming majority of our dealership leaders show us a Sensory result, when they take the MBTI Assessment. This result is in keeping with the general population, where we find roughly 75% of people with the Sensor preference. These people prefer to rely on data, sensory experience, and physical information with which to make decisions—think The Currie Financial Model, KPIs, and other performance metrics. The remaining 25% of the population are those with the Intuitive preference, and they seek meaning within that which is present. Intuitives look for patterns within the information, and they look to determine what is the “story” which the performance metrics tell us. Both preferences are important, and true mastery is the ability to recognize both, and apply both in all situations. High level managers and executives must learn to access, and activate, their Intuitive personality traits, along with the Sensory tendency. This activity may not feel natural, and it may seem difficult, but the Sensor is already using Intuition more than she may realize. The leader must use all available strategies, including tenacity and perseverance, to tap into her resources, and retrieve that prize which is necessary for the thriving of her community: her dealership. But how does she accomplish this? Through the strength of the Sensory side of one’s personality, one can journey into the Intuitive. Here’s a unique example of what this means. Below are five common phrases which describe an intuitive process using a sensory modality.
“I see what you mean” (sight)
“I hear you” (hearing)
“This leaves a bad taste in my mouth” (taste)
“I have a good feeling about this” (touch)
“This doesn’t smell right” (smell)
What we have, are phrases which begin with evaluation of a sensory input, and then convert into a statement which derives intuitive meaning from that same sensory input statement. We have now discovered the bridge between The Sensor and The Intuitive. The phrases above are descriptive of a sensory experience. However, as we analyze the way we use these statements, a deeper meaning is discovered. This is a simplistic manner with which to describe the connection between the tendencies of a Sensor, and those of an Intuitive. But we can take this information much deeper, and Sensors can continue to engage Intuitive thinking by taking a more Socratic approach: asking questions and seeking meaning. Take the helicopter and see the view from the top. It opens entirely different perspectives for the developing leaders and empowers the leaders with new inspiration and additional tools for their journeys.
The Currie Financial Model is a quantitative tool, applied in order to measure the financial performance of a dealership or distribution company. What is immediately visible, are the numerical results. Now, enter the Intuitive application—what is the meaning, what are the patterns, and what story are the numbers telling us? Intuitive are all about concepts, Sensors are about logic. If you have attended a Currie lecture on High Performing Executives, you will remember that the competencies of mental agility, curiosity, and the ability to embrace complexity are required. The Socratic approach, as mentioned earlier, is the way to find the answers. What are the questions which arise out of the results: who do we ask, what is happening behind these data points, and what strategies or processes should now be created and implemented?
In this piece, we have covered psychology, personality, leadership, financial modelling, and perhaps a little bit more. For more information about The Currie Leadership Development Program, and other offerings at The Currie Training Center, visit our website at www.CurrieTrainingCenter.com.
Happy Trails!

This is an excerpt from the chapter I wrote on Meditation. Here I am sharing with you four of the eight Meditations that I have designed for my readers. You’ll have to read the book to learn the other four!!
Earth meditations. You were born of the dust of the Earth, and it has become the technology which your body is made from. “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he”. (Deuteronomy 32:4). The Earth, our mother, has passed to us all her knowledge, whether we are aware of it or not. If you have a crystal, hold it while you engage in an Earth meditation, and open your heart to extend gratitude and love into our precious planet. Perhaps you will discover that the crystal has healing properties, or perhaps it contains some of the secrets of the earth, and you will learn to read it. Are you experiencing visions of animals? Plants? Trees? All of these are messages, from Mother Earth to you. She will tell you whatever it is you wish to know: sun and moon cycles, water teachings, geology, ancient healing arts, and more. In your mind, travel deep within Her core, learn Her stories, hear Her whisper divine information, feel Her endow you with Her love, and let Her teach you to fly.
Creativity meditations. There exists a tremendous amount of hidden insights, ideas, solutions, and an infinite creative genius residing within the human mind. One only need devise a way to access this treasure trove, and discover the incredible potential which lies within. There is one way to travel there, to the deep recesses of your divinely inspired brilliance, and that is through meditation. Leave this world, and travel to the world of who you really are. Ask a question, and seek answers through the knowing that the answers are right within your own mind. As you learn to change your brain frequencies, and experience altered states of consciousness, all of your questions will be answered.
Chakra meditations. A well balanced chakra system is critical to good health. Refer back to the Introduction of this book, where you can read a very brief and very general explanation of the importance of chakra awareness. This section only scratches the surface of what our chakras truly mean for us. In the Chapter on Health, some further information resides there linking chakra health to the health of a human endocrine system. Chakras are the unseen vortex connection points supporting your human body in functioning the way it is meant to function. When chakras are out of balance, the entire body is out of balance. Yet chakras can be balanced through focused awareness, healing strategies, and meditation. Color therapy, aromatherapy, focused awareness, professional guidance, and meditation are all powerful balancing activities. You will better manage, or even remediate, a host of ailments by paying attention to, and working with, your body’s amazing chakra system.
Ka body meditations. The Ka body is said to be an energetic replica of our physical body. It is the piece of us which never dies. There are some who are able to perceive the Ka bodies of others, in the form of aura. Have you ever spent time with somebody from whom you “get a bad vibe”? Could that be the Ka? Meditating on the Ka body will assist you in charging your Ka body, and thus your entire body, with positive energy. Magnetic poles, solar storms, and other energetic forces that affect our bodies, can be utilized for good and positive outcomes. Take advantage of changes to the Earth’s Ka body, and synchronize your energy patterns. This is necessary for any humans who are engaging in an ascension process.
Meditation does not always come easy, and for many people it requires a great deal of effort. Is this process, then, counterproductive? Perhaps in the early stages, the focus on the application will prevent the experience of the full benefits, however please stick with it. Practice, persevere, and hold out. Anyone, and everyone, can learn to meditate effectively. Do not worry if you need to utilize assistance. Training and guidance are readily available. Below is a list of some helpful methods which you may wish to employ to enhance your practice.
The point is this: aids to meditation are everywhere to be found. Try several styles. Which experience feels good to you? Which method is calling to you?
Finally, let us remember the enduring and profound meditation known by Catholics as The Rosary. This practice has remained throughout the ages, when many others have fallen away. Our Blessed Mother, is with us always. She has been a solid guide for women and mothers, for men seeking to understand, and for all Catholics. Her Prayer of the Rosary teaches us dedication, disciplined meditation, insight, and love. Learning to pray the Rosary takes the faithful ones to the Sacred Heart of Mary, where we heal and transform. Do not just take my word for it. Commit to The Rosary, study the practice, work with it, and feel the blessings of compassion come to you, and flow from you. It will truly change your life. “But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.” (Luke 2:19).
Today’s prayer of intention: “God, I seek higher places, better places, places of love. Take me with You, to travel by your side. Help me to see the unseen, and understand the unknown. Show me Your wonders, and teach me Your ways. Help me to unlock the secrets of my mind, which You have created. Help me to know my soul, and Yours. Lift the veils for me to go where You go.”
Today’s verse: “My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: when I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.” (Psalm 64:5-6).

Here’s a little excerpt from my chapter on Hope.
“And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light that shines on me…” Paul McCartney and John Lennon. As the story goes, Paul McCartney’s late mother, Mary McCartney, came to Paul in a dream while he was going through a difficult period in his life. During her visit, she imparted to him a wisdom which advised him to let things go their course. Thus, Paul found his hope that all suffering is temporary, and life would get better.
One of our greatest teachings about hope can come from the Book of Ezekiel. The story depicts a prophet who rose out of the desperation of Israel, after the occupation and the Babylonian deportations. Ezekiel brought a level of hope, a new hope, which had been unimaginable to a people so lost. But let us examine who Ezekiel really was, including the good, the bad, and the ugly: a priest; a contemporary of the prophet Jeremiah; a survivor of the invasion of Jerusalem by the Babylonians; a politically displaced person; a man who experienced both physical and spiritual exile; an open minded soul devoted to God; a bold character; and a human, with all of the struggles of duality which go along with our lives as embodied creations of God. Ezekiel was just like you, and me.
The holy city of Jerusalem had been overthrown and occupied by the Babylonians, and God charged Ezekiel with the task of restoring the bond between God and His people. Read all of Ezekiel 37, but especially verses 5-8: “Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: and I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord. So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above…” (Ezekiel 37:5-8). Consider the faith, and the measure of hope, which was required for Ezekiel to understand this holy calling and persevere with his mission.
Hope is our unbreakable connection to God, and it represents our sacred innocence. It is one of our most precious, divine gifts. Hold on tight to it, preserve it, protect it. Do not ever relinquish it to the enemy. Never let go of hope.
Today’s prayer of intention: “I await You, my God. I know You will come. I know You never leave me. Nothing can separate me from You. In my seasons of distress, stay with me. In my times of trouble, support me. On my cold and dark days, shine a light for me. Help me to always see You, feel You, and abide in Your love. Each day, remind me that, for me, You have only thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give me an expected end. Let me live each day in Your promises, as I carry Your message of hope. Amen.”

Expression through language takes many forms: some processes are representative of our outer voice, some represent our inner voice, and some lie in the overlap between out outer voice and our inner voice.
The Outer voice. The spoken word is the transmission of sound, from one living being to another. “Give me eloquent speech in my mouth before the lion: turn his heart to hate him that fighteth against us,” (Esther (Additions) 1:13).
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;” (Isaiah 61:1).
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,” (Luke 4:18).
What is your mission statement?

How do we demonstrate our intentions? Below is a corny little acronym. But this list is a series of action steps which have worked for me, time and again. Use this set of instructions for all types of intentions: small ones such as “it’s going to be a great day”, to major life events such as changing careers or finding a soul mate.
I–Imagine. Visualize the result of your intention. See it, and see the lifestyle which accompanies the result of your intent. What does it look like? Conjure up details in your mind’s eye: colors, places, people, and sounds. Do this constantly, without ceasing,
N–Narrow the intention. Make it clear, specific, and real. Here is where symbols become both important and helpful. Create an altar space, or a shrine, and place objects or pictures which symbolize or depict the subject of your intention. Engage in a ritual, honouring your path to achieving this outcome. This type of activity demonstrates your power and your dedication. Fasting, lighting candles, ritual, kneeling in prayer, the sign of the cross–all of these rites have been created and carried through the ages, in order to seal intentions. Ceremony sets the intention into physicality.
T–Talk about it. Proclaim your intention. Announce it. Speak it. Mold the description into a concise declaration. The intention can be very small, or incredibly lofty–none of that matters. Just make sure you are able to express it clearly
E–Emote. Feel it. Meditate on your intention, deep in visualization, and let the full emotions wash over you. You must learn to begin experiencing the exact same emotions that you will experience once your intention has manifested. Remember the Prosperity chapter, and consider the “upper limit” principle here. You MUST be able to tolerate the fruition of your intention. This is often a battle between your conscious desires and your unconscious blocks.
N–Never give up. Have patience. Keep up the pressure. Never lose sight of your vision. Endurance is required, as is faith. “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”. (Philippians 3:14). Keep pressing. Remain steadfast, even when your efforts appear to be in vain.
T–Take action. Do not skip any of these above steps, for they represent a clear and potent decision, created in and coming directly from your heart and soul. But be aware, intention is so much more than wishing, or positive thinking. In order for an intention to become a reality, you must take specific and focused action towards the outcome. You must spend time–physical, allocated, and dedicated time on all of the activities which are required in order for your intention to manifest. Once again, as associated with so many topics and activities in this book, commitment is required. It must be solid, unwavering, powerful commitment. And it absolutely must be accompanied by related activity.

Let us examine another perspective about Grace. John Newton (1725-1807) experienced a “dark night of the soul”, converted to Christianity, and, in 1772, wrote a timeless masterpiece, in the form of a hymn, entitled Amazing Grace. Newton was a British slave trader who, after a tumultuous youth, had a near death experience at sea, and vowed, if God would save his life, to change his ways. Needless to say, Newton survived the storm, and committed, himself to the practices of Christianity, and to learning The Holy Bible. Many years later, John Newton spoke out against the horrific practice of slavery, and the shame associated with such a practice.
Amazing Grace, much like the chronology of The Holy Bible, depicts a human lifetime, from birth until death. For that reason, it has fittingly become a funeral hymn. There are several different versions of the song, but here is a very popular rendition of the lyrics:
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.
John Newton describes a life without grace, without God, as dangerous, and all we need do is believe. It sounds so simple, because it is. Could it be that God, in all of His graceful glory, is with us in every moment, but we are blind to it, until we believe? Must we wait until we are in peril? If so many of us call upon God, often for the first time, during our darkest hour, then does that action not indicate that we always knew, and always believed? Or do so many of us only cry out to God as a last resort because we have nothing to lose? Do we believe, or not? Only you can answer that.
