As a leader, you are called to be a model.  Your followers are just that, ones who look at you, and look to you.  What are you showing them?

Models are created to demonstrate a way that is correct, good, or even required.  When we agree to be a model, we agree to be watched, imitated, and under scrutiny at all times.  This is a big commitment, and one that a good leader will naturally embody.  If you are not feeling that this is natural for you, then look to another model for yourself.  And so the concept of “paying it forward” becomes the activity which occurs as good people both seek and embody the challenge of leadership.  And as good leaders model a good way, they are developing their followers into role models themselves.  Thus, these emerging leaders will develop their own followers, and so on.

Always remember that you are leading through word and deed.  You are a model of what is right.  Your team is watching you.  Stand in your integrity as a reflection to all.
